Shane Slater's Straight Hot Studs is up for review today, and that's quite a mouthful in a site title if you ask me. I went to read a little bit about Shane Slater and came to realize that it doesn't really matter who he is. He created and runs the site, but he's not really involved in front of the camera so far as I can tell. Instead, he searches out straight guys to jack off for him and his video camera, and that's what this site is all about. Your $20 monthly membership also gets you access to Bad Puppy, with whom this site is affiliated.
The niche and content of the site are no doubt what will bring you here. This random guy, Shane Slater, goes out and looks for hot straight guys who don't mind jacking off in front of a video camera. It looks like they're often watching some porn, but will sometimes bring toys and finger their ass as well.
For downloads, they don't allow multiple download threads at once, so your download manager won't help a ton. Speeds were around 1/12th of my max speed on average, but varied a lot, and definitely got slower at times. On top of that, while you're downloading a video, you can't browse the site, even the tour! This makes waiting for the video to be done that much more unbearable.
They don't really date anything or give an update log, so you have to just keep an eye out for new content on your own. Our content counts show them stagnant for at least a few months, which isn't good news. I have no idea when their last update was.
It's easy enough to get around, but everything is just too simple here. The design is plain, and there are no navigation features at all. There's not even a models index to speak of, so you just kinda click around blindly.
While they have videos and vidcaps, there are no photo galleries here at all, which may disappoint some. Hopefully you're only here for videos.
The video intros are too loud and long for my liking. There's some loud music and a preview of the video you're about to watch, but the real video doesn't actually start until around 35 seconds in on average.
The WMV "streaming" option was simply a WMV download link for me. I generally don't have problems with actual WMV streaming videos, so I'm not sure what's going on with these.
In the tour, he mentions that all videos are shot in high definition. I don't know if that's true, but they're definitely not presented in HD here.
Their model bios are extremely weak here. There are a couple stats, and that's it. They could definitely do a lot more in this area.
Shane Slater's Straight Hot Studs offers up some okay scenes, but there's just not enough to get excited about here. I mean on the good side, the content is exclusive, and you get a little network access. Hopefully the guys interest you, as he hand picks them for the site supposedly. Beyond that, the size is pretty average, the quality is average, the updates seem to have stopped, there are no navigation features or anything, and there aren't even photos to check out. You don't get to know the guys at all as the bios are minimal at best. It's not bad, but it's just very simple without much to really entice you to stick around.
