This site is long-time photog, Donovan Trent's official site where he shares his work with lovely models and pornstars with members.
DT Babes is up for review today, and those fancy initials obviously stand for something. This is the site of photographer Donovan Trent (cool name!), and looks to be a newer site featuring his photos, and some videos he shoots as well. You can check out some of his work on the site tour, but I wouldn't label him as a natural photographer like we see so often from "photography" site. Instead, he shoots mostly indoors with various semi-pro type models in standard setups. One thing I noticed right off the bat was the extreme amount of airbrushing used. I don't know if I'd call it his style or what, but I think it's overdone. You can judge for yourself of course, but it's not my thing. There's not a ton to see yet, but updates do come at least weekly. Membership is reasonable at $20 a month these days.
Since the site is smaller for now, updates are key here. It looks like he adds a new photo set every week, and then two new videos twice a month as well. For a photography site, it's not the quickest schedule in the world, but at least they're consistent.
Of course, with a site like this, everything is all exclusive here. He's the one photographer and videographer and is in control of everything. He even has taken steps to help content theft, so you shouldn't really see his content anywhere else.
He just upgraded the streaming video player, and it does stream quite quickly and efficiently in my opinion.
Every member gets a free DVD with some of his content on there, which is a nice freebie (you just pay $6 for shipping).
The advanced search tool is a decent thing to have. It's a little simple overall, but will be nice as the site grows.
He explains in his blog why the video quality is lower for downloads (he's sick of people stealing and sharing his videos with the world), but even the streaming video quality isn't quite there in my opinion. Both of them show definite artifacts and quality issues, and could use a boost in quality.
I haven't seen airbrushing like this in quite a while, and it's way over-done in my opinion. The girls look like mannequins or aliens at time, especially when their boobs or stomachs have been altered so much. I understand a slight airbrushing to remove imperfections, but this was too much for me. Maybe it's the style, but it's one I didn't care for persaonally.
I'm guessing the site must be quite new as there's just not a lot of content up at this point. The updates should help, but even then, it'll take quite a while for it to grow into what I'd call a large site.
The intros to the videos are a bit much in my opinion. They're rather loud, and take a little too long (a bit over 25 seconds or so by my count).
For some reason, zip files are only offered in the smaller photo sizes, and not the largest. It may be a copyright thing as well, but I'd much prefer to have a zip with the largest files instead.
There are short scene descriptions, but no model biographies here for some reason. I think it's a great source of personality for a site like this that's missing here.
Both the chat board and blog are pretty empty, and aren't used much. I'm all for having interactive features, as long as they're filled with content.
There's a lot going against DT Babes unfortunately. While every site has to start somewhere, I think you could breeze through his collection rather quickly. Updates do come, but one photoset a week and two videos a month aren't going to grow this one too quickly. On top of that, while the girls are beautiful and some scenes are decent, the over-airbrushing and lackluster video quality take away from even the content aspect of the site for me. I just feel the list of cons is too great right now for me personally. With some time, growth, and a few changes, I think the site could be good, but not as it's setup currently.
